Egg Caldereta (Kalderetang Itlog) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8 pcs egg, hard boiled, peeled
  • 1 pc large potato, cut into cubes
  • 1 pc large carrot, cut into cubes
  • 1 pc small green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 pc small red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 pc onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 pack (250 g) tomato sauce
  • ½ cup liver spread
  • 2 cups water, or chicken broth
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese grated, (optional)
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil, for frying

Instructions

  • In a cooking pan, pour-in and heat oil over medium heat.
  • Add-in the cubed potatoes and cubed carrots. Cook until lightly browned. Set aside.
  • In the same cooking pot, add-in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Saute for 1 to 2 minutes or until soft and aromatic.
  • Add-in the water, soy sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil then add-in the tomato sauce, liver spread, and grated cheese, and hard boiled eggs. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes or until tender.
  • Add-in the sliced green bell peppers and sliced red bell peppers, and then add back in the cubed potatoes and cubed carrots. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Transfer to a serving plate or serving bowl. Serve and enjoy!
